“Why”
Dearest Heather and Jared,
In these past hours, many have asked the question “why” did this happen? I do not know “why”. Only God the Father knows in total the “why”; however, I would like to share with you one reason, in part, as to, “why” based not on my thinking, but the thinking of the Word of God as the only source of Truth in this life and in eternity.
When Jesus was among among us, some two thousand years ago, his followers Mark, Matthew and John each as an eyewitness and Paul recorded these words that Jesus spoke as they were moved by the Spirit;
“Then they brought the little children to Him, that He might touch them; ……….. "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God . "Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took the little children up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:13-16
“…. as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” John 1:12.
“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Acts 16.31
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10.17
The Father requires nothing from us but the simple faith of a child. There is nothing that we can do for God, for God has done everything for us, including the gift of His Son, and the gift of your son, Jett.
God the Father called Jett to heaven. All little children go to the Father at his appointed time. While Jett, as a child, would have gone to heaven anyway, Jett had believed on the name of the Lord, ….God the Son sent by God the Father,…..Jesus…..as the humanity who dwelt among us,………..Christ…… the annointed deliverer from death to Life, from darkness to Light. I know this to be true as witnessed by those at vacation bible school that he attended, by family members and myself.
As God gave His son as a gift, He so gave Jett as a gift to all of us as well. These are not the hollow words of a saddend grandfather, but the truth as demonstrated by the hundreds of people that Jett’s life touched.
Jett was the kindest, generous, giving and loving man who I really think I have ever known, unless it would equal of his brother Ryson or his sister Aspen . These last hours I have quietly listened to the words of those who stopped by the house giving comfort to the family. A grandmother who only some days ago Jett asked if he could rake the leaves in her yard; a seven year old boy. I don’t know many who did this when they were seven, certainly not me. A boy whose teachers at Emerson related how kind and helpful he was to all the children in his classes and the respect he showed to his teachers. He was a delight to them all. For his sister’s birthday, he wanted to give her a gift. Jett had fifteen dollars in his piggy bank. He gave Aspen , fifteen dollars for her birthday, all that he had. Jett always liked to give hugs, unashamedly. He cared for and gave that mischevous twinkle in his eye and little grin to all of his cousins, aunts and uncles at one time or another. A hug to his grandfather’s and grandmothers, thanking them for taking him camping, for giving him a ride somewhere, for coming to his games or for making him scrambled eggs and sausage. Hugs all the time to a mother and father who loved him in all fullness and who he loved in total. The apple of a mother and father’s eye.
Jett demonstated love, grace, forgiveness, caring and helping all around him just as Jesus demonstrated his love, his grace, his forgiveness, his caring and his helping us, all of us.
Jett was truly a happy boy and the secret of his genuine happiness was that he thought of others before himself. I have learned from this. We all should learn from this.
This, I believe, is why the Father gave us Jett, just as he gave us Jesus. Jett manifested the essential characteristics and virtues of Jesus in his life. A genuine and real life that we might remember this Jett of His, this Jett of yours, of ours and follow his role model, as he demonstrated the model of Christ in his young life.
Last week, when we were here, as soon as we came into the house he said; “Grandma….Grandpa….I want to show you something….I want to show you my room”. It was all picked up, clean and orderly. “Awesome job Jett” and Grandma gave him a hug.
Jesus has prepared a room for Jett in heaven, a mansion and right now he is exploring all of heaven. And I have no doubt that when we each are called home, Jett will be waiting for us…… give us a hug and want to show us all his room and all of the cool places in heaven.
So may the Light of Jett’s life shine from your eyes to brighten all things you gaze upon just as he brightened our eyes with his powerful life, challenging us all to greater love and caring for each other, knowing that he yet lives and we all will see him soon and he is yet here and part of us all.
God bless you.
Love,
Grandpa Don and Grandma Keri
